CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Pine Manor College has accepted an invitation to join the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC), it was announced today by Director of Athletics John Griffith.
The Gators become the NCAA Division III league’s seventh active member for the upcoming school year and are immediately eligible to compete for GSAC Championships, and the opportunity to play in the NCAA tournament, in each of the five intercollegiate women’s sports offered at Pine Manor.
“We are excited to join the Great South Athletic Conference and have the opportunity to expand the conference to a new part of the country. We look forward to competing with a great group of institutions,” said PMC Athletic Director John Griffith.
Founded in 1999 as a group of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III member institutions, the GSAC member schools bear similar academic and athletic interests.
“I am thrilled to add Pine Manor as a full-time member of the Great South Athletic Conference,” said GSAC commissioner Joeleen Akin. “Their commitment to fostering athletic competition and cooperation in a highly selective academic atmosphere made them a natural fit for our league.”
The conference is comprised of institutions located in Alabama (Huntingdon College), Georgia (Agnes Scott College, Covenant College, Spelman College and Wesleyan College), North Carolina (Salem College) and now Massachusetts (Pine Manor College).
A private four-year liberal arts college for women, Pine Manor College (PMC) strives to educate and empower a diverse student body to become accomplished, reflective, and confident leaders – one student at a time.
