Following the footsteps of Paula Voegel’s original play, How I Learned to Drive, Pine Manor's spring play invites you to step into the shoes of Li’l Bit, a young girl who learns to drive for the first time in such a way that follows her for the rest of her life. Student Director, Adriana Li '12 and Professor Emma Dassori eliminated the male voice that is Uncle Peck’s, giving a stronger voice to Li’l Bit and the women whose lives he deeply affected. This play pays a deep homage to all the lost voices of women in history and today, and all the women whose voices are either never heard or eliminated because of the male voice. This is their chance to speak without interruption, to think without interference, and to be without being stifled. This is how she learns to drive.
