AMHERST, Mass. -- Despite goals from sophomore Sybil Lynch (Hoboken, NJ) and senior Amanda Powell (Lumberton, NJ), Pine Manor women's soccer dropped a 4-2 decision at Hampshire College on Saturday afternoon in Amherst, MA.
Powell scored just a minute into the second half to cut a 2-0 haftime deficit to 2-1, but Hampshire quickly countered with goals in the 60th and 66th minute to take a 4-1 advantage. Lynch helped the Gators get back on the board with eight minutes remaining when she made the score 4-2. However, that is as close as Pine Manor would get for the remainder of the contest.
PMC senior Natasha Kopystynsky (Johnsburg, IL) made 12 saves in the loss as Hampshire held a 28-10 advantage in total shots in the contest.
With the loss the Gators drop to 2-9-0 on the season. Pine Manor will close out its 2013 campaign at home on Monday when they host Newbury College at 4:00 PM at Hedley Field.
