The Other Side of Campus |
Ask ten students why they chose Pine Manor College and nine will surely place Boston high on the list of reasons. Boston is, of course, a world-class city and a dynamic college town with over 250,000 students attending more than 50 colleges and universities. That means a full year-round calendar of events: lectures and movies; parties and concerts; seminars and workshops. There is always something for a college student to do in Boston. |

“I loved that Pine Manor College was so close to Boston, but was in the suburbs and so beautiful.”

Pine Manor College is situated just five miles from downtown Boston. Students can hop on the PMC shuttle (or take the 10-minute walk) and soon be at a Green Line station of the “T” waiting for the next train into town, which arrives every few minutes. Twenty minutes later, they will be at the heart of the city ready to take advantage of all that Boston offers.
Boston is a cultural and intellectual classroom. Art, music, theatre, history – Boston has it. Students can enjoy the Museum of Fine Arts or the Institute of Contemporary Art, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops or the Boston Ballet, professional theatre downtown, or local university theatres. Boston’s place in American history is unparalleled with such treasures as Old North Church, the U.S.S. Constitution, Bunker Hill, George’s Island, Faneuil Hall, and the Boston Common. Many PMC courses tap the city’s rich resources. Boston is cheering the Red Sox at Fenway Park or the Bruins at the Fleet Center or the runners fighting Heartbreak Hill in the Boston Marathon. It is relaxing in Harvard Square or on the banks of the Charles River as sleek sailboats glide by. Boston is shopping at Downtown Crossing, on Newbury Street, or at Quincy Market, the city’s bustling centers of shops and restaurants. It is nightlife with concerts at the Orpheum Theatre and the Paradise, movies downtown, and clubs on Lansdowne Street. Boston is a center of business, technology, communication, and health care. Students will find dynamic and diverse internship possibilities. With Boston so close, people might expect PMC’s campus to reflect an urban environment. Not so. The campus is spread over 60 acres of rolling hills and wooded grounds nestled within a quiet neighborhood in the Chestnut Hill section of Brookline, just west of the city. This unique setting provides a retreat from the hustle and bustle of Boston.
