A College for Women |
At Pine Manor College (PMC), you will find a vibrant community that is committed to transforming lives. PMC provides an educational environment that supports individual growth and empowers young women for responsible leadership. Our small size helps us do this, but so do interactive teaching, interdisciplinary study, and active learning techniques such as portfolio development and internships for all students. Here, you will learn to think critically, act collaboratively, and develop leadership skills in new ways, focusing on inclusiveness and responsibility for the common good. |

“I had never imagined myself attending a women’s college. But after I visited during a prospective student weekend I was hooked. I felt that PMC had an environment where my talents could be nurtured and where I could thrive.”
“My professors gave me the feeling that they really cared about my education and my development and growth as a woman.” |
Studies have found that women who attend a single-sex college tend to participate more fully in and out of class, have more opportunities to hold leadership positions, and develop a stronger sense of self esteem than other achieving women in co-educational institutions. Graduates of women’s colleges also go on to greater career success after college. They tend to pursue advanced degrees at a much higher rate than women who attend coeducational institutions. In fact, women’s college graduates are more than twice as likely to earn doctoral degrees and complete professional degrees such as law or medicine. They also tend to enjoy much higher salaries after graduation than women who attend co-educational institutions. Women’s colleges frequently promote a higher level of self-confidence and self-sufficiency in students. In this environment, women are more apt to explore their career interests, maximize their talents and abilities, and are generally more satisfied with their collegiate experience. PMC cares about its students – their growth, their weaknesses, their strengths, and their concerns. We recognize caring as part of higher-order thinking and a basic ingredient in inclusive leadership and social responsibility. Through individualized attention and a strong advising program, students develop a commitment to themselves and the campus community. This commitment equips our students to become responsible leaders, which translates into a broader focus on helping others. By caring for its students and their needs, PMC has transformed the lives of thousands of women.
