BOSTON, MA-- Pine Manor dropped its first road game of the season, 8-0 to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) rival Emerson College on Wednesday evening at Rotch Playground Field in Boston, MA. With both teams seeking their first win of the season, Emerson came out with a dominant first-half performance.
In the first half, Emerson sophomore Jill Dean (Lynn, MA) scored two goals, while classmate Amber Bigwood (Chepachet, RI) contributed a goal and two assists as Emerson took a 7-0 advantage before the break en route to an 8-0 victory.
For Pine Manor, senior Beth Deegan (Philadelphia, PA) had a team high 2 shots but the Gators were outshot by a wide 39-3 margin. Pine Manor sophomore goalkeeper Natasha Kopystynsky made 13 saves on 21 shots, bringing her GNAC leading saves total to 55.
The Gators return to home Saturday to welcome the GNAC's newest member, Anna Maria College. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
