CHESTNUT HILL, MA—Pine Manor scored two goals in the opening minutes of the first half but a resilient Mills College (CA) team rallied to tie Pine Manor with two second half goals on Friday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, MA.
PMC sophomore Tesla Castillo (Boston, MA) opened the scoring just over two minutes into the match when she hit a high arching cross over the head of Mills College junior goalkeeper Shauna Corbitt (Mukilteo, Washington). Just five minutes later, classmate Amanda Powell (Lumberton, NJ) scored on a feed from senior Christina Santos (Pawtucket, RI), firing a shot past Corbitt and into the back of the net. Corbitt was then replaced in the Mills goal by Rene’e Gallison (Captain Cook, Hawaii) , as the Gators had a 2-0 advantage eight minutes in.
From that point forward Gallison and the Cyclones shut down the Gators for the remainder of the first, before staging a second half comeback led by junior Chelsea Satterwhite (Mountain View, CA). Satterwhite scored both second half goals for the Cyclones leading the visitors from California back to a 2-all tie at 58:37 of the second half. From there, the match would remain scoreless and finish at 2-2.
For Pine Manor, sophomore goalkeeper Natasha Kopystynsky (Johnsburg,IL) made 12 saves in the match.
Pine Manor has a quick turnaround as it will play at Suffolk tomorrow at 2 pm.
