CHESTNUT HILL, MA— Norwich sophomore Kathleen Manning (Mashpee, MA)scored two goals and had an assist to help lead the visiting Cadets to an 8-0 victory over Pine Manor on Wednesday afternoon at Hedley Field in Chestnut Hill, MA.
Norwich got on the board first just seven minutes into the game when senior Nikki Szczepanski (Auburn, NY) scored on a feed from junior Lisa Esparaza (Dover, NH) at the top of the box. Just over nine minutes later the two would again connect, this time with Szczepanski returning the favor and Esparza netting her first of the game.
Norwich would add three more first half goals to take a commanding 5-0 lead into the half. In the second half, Manning was the story for the Cadets as both of her goals came on either side of a cross into the box that was put home by sophomore Julie Lovely (Auburn, MA).
For Pine Manor, sophomore Natasha Kopystynsky (Johnsburg, IL) made 15 saves, 12 of which came in the first half.
Pine Manor will now look ahead to Saturday and GNAC action vs. Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. Kick-off is set for 12:00 noon in Standish, ME.
