Softball Coaches

Head Coach: Ashley Bernstein

Ashley Bernstein joined Pine Manor College Athletics as both the Head Coach of the Women’s Soccer and Softball Programs in January 2012. A standout softball player at Division II Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) and a three-sport high-school athlete in soccer, basketball and softball at Cardinal Spellman High School, Bernstein brings a great deal of athletic experience and success to Pine Manor.

Prior to arriving at Pine Manor, Bernstein served as a softball pitching coach at Bentley University, while also working as the Inventory Control Manager at Fielder’s Choice Sports in Taunton, MA. At Bentley, Bernstein worked with pitchers on a day-to-day basis, preparing them for in-game situations while also running full pitching workouts during practice and in the offseason.

While at SNHU, Bernstein excelled as a student-athlete in softball. A two-year team captain, she was named to the 2009 Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team after concluding her collegiate career with a 3.52 career ERA, collecting 222 career strikeouts and winning 35 games and pitching over 400 innings. Bernstein’s prowess was not limited to the pitching circle as she also finished with .320 career batting average, collecting 140 hits over her four years at SNHU.

Bernstein also collected numerous accolades during her high school career as a three-sport athlete at Cardinal Spellman. A four-year starter in soccer, basketball and softball, Bernstein also served as a team captain in all three sports. In both 2004 and 2005, Bernstein was awarded the Massachusetts Gatorade Softball Player of the Year Award as well as the Boston Globe Division II Softball Player of the Year award. She was also awarded with the 2005 Brockton Enterprise Softball Player of the Year award.

A 2009 graduate of SNHU with a degree in Sport Management, Bernstein now resides in Stoughton, MA.

Assistant Coach: Melissa Pessotti

Melissa Pessotti joins the Pine Manor Softball Program as an assistant coach for the 2013 season. A 2010 graduate of Division II Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), Melissa was also a team captain during her senior season. Melissa finished her collegiate career with a .251 batting average while collecting 41 RBIs and 109 total bases while also compiling an impressive .986 fielding percentage in 118 career games for SNHU.
