CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Pine Manor College Softball will make its first appearance in the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) Tournament this Friday, April 26, 2013, when they take on tournament host Salem College at Forsyth Country Day School in Clemmons, NC.

The fifth-seeded Gators (12-8 overall) will take on the fourth seeded Salem College Spirits (12-20, 9-7 GSAC) in the first game of the double-elimination tournament on Friday morning at 10:00 AM.

A member of the GSAC since 2009, Salem is one of our nation's most distinguished private liberal arts colleges for women.  Salem is the oldest educational institution for women in the United States and boasts a proud history of fostering independence in women. The Spirits enter the tournament with a 7-3 record in their last ten games. Salem is led by junior Kristi Morton (Trussville, AL), who has a team-high .429 batting average, and freshman Kierston Garner (Danbury, NC), who has hit a team-high six home runs this season.

The winner will advance to take on the tournament’s top overall seed, Huntingdon College (23-9, 16-0 GSAC), in the tournament’s fourth game at 2:00 PM on Friday. The loser will take on the loser of the tournament’s fifth game in an elimination game on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM.
