What to Bring

Here are some things to consider when you pack:

For Your Room

Linens, blankets, pillows, and towels will be provided, though some students might like to bring their own towels and sheets (single) with them. Please also plan to bring your own toiletries. Slippers and/or flip-flops, plus clothes hangers might also come in handy.

The dorms are not air conditioned, but classrooms are (bring a sweater for layering). Participants traveling by car might want to bring an electric fan. Bug spray (for mosquitoes) is also a good idea.

Students traveling by car are also advised to bring a reading lamp. We'll have a limited number of lamps on hand to loan to students who must travel light (no pun intended).

Coin-operated laundry facilities are available in the dorms (you'll need quarters and detergent).

There is a refrigerator located in the Student Center, adjacent to the President's Dining Room, where all Conference meetings and seminars are held.

About Computers & Internet Access

Wireless Internet access is provided in various locations on campus; a list of these sites will be included in your welcome packet.

Wireless connections are not yet available in the dorms. Participants with laptops who want to use the Internet in their rooms will need to provide their own Ethernet cable. Some students have found it handy to bring portable printers, although printers are available for use in the library.

PMC does no provide Internet support beyond ensuring that the jack in each dorm room is working. Students may also use the computers in the dorm lounge and in the library. The library's computer center (including PCs and printers) is available to all students. The Internet speed is generally good for common activities like Web browsing, but we cannot guarantee that all protocols are available. Also, users are responsible for protecting their own computers from viruses, worms, and power surges.

All students are welcome to use the computer center in the Annenberg Library, which includes use of printers.

Other

Participants not worried about traveling light might find it useful to bring a dictionary and other reference tools (though these are available in the library). If you own copies of our faculty's books and want them signed, don't forget to pack those, too (as suggested by a past participant).

If you take medications on a regular basis, don't forget to bring them.
