Advising & Counseling
Peer Advising
New student orientation is filled with activity each September and
January. The peer advising staff are the women that help make in
all happen. Each spring, students have the opportunity to apply
to be selected and trained to work with new students. As an integral
part of the mentoring teams all year, Peer Advisors develop the
skills to be coaches for their mentoring groups in all aspects of
their Pine Manor College experience.
ALANA Student Advisor
The ALANA (African, Latina, Asian and Native American) Student Advisor
serves as a counselor, supporter, and advocate to the ALANA students
at Pine Manor College. The primary goal of the advisor is to encourage
the personal, social, and academic development of ALANA students.
International Student Services
The International Student Advisor is the primary counselor for all
students from other countries. She serves as the liaison between
international students and the College community and helps students
identify and use resources for academic and personal development.
The Dean of Student Life is also a resource for immigration concerns.
Personal Counseling
Personal Counseling services, available at the Women's Health and
Wellness Center, provides support for students who are dealing with
the stresses of college life and other personal concerns. Confidentiality
of mental health records is assured as defined by state and federal
regulations. The student health fee covers 10 sessions per year
at no cost. A student may continue to see a counselor on campus
by billing her health insurance or paying a sliding-scale fee. Students
may prefer to continue with a different therapist in the community.
The Center maintains referral sources for this purpose.
