Frequently Asked
Questions
Since the Health and Wellness Center is closed during
the summer, how can I reach you if I have a question?
You can leave a message on Voice Mail at (617) 731-7171. We will get back to you as soon as
possible. When leaving a message, please speak slowly; spell the student's
name; provide a daytime phone number where you can be reached. Please
repeat the number slowly and clearly. If you need to speak with someone
immediately, please contact the Office of Student Life at (617) 731-7108.
How am I supposed to get proof
that I have had the required shots?
Check with your
doctor/pediatrician, health clinic, high school health office, school nurse or,
if you are transferring from another college, the student health service.
What if I never had these shots or cannot get any records?
You
should receive the required immunizations from your primary care provider,
clinic or the public health department in your area. We strongly
recommend that you receive all the required immunizations prior to your arrival
on campus. If you are unable to do so, the immunizations are available
at the PMC Health and Wellness Center. After September 1st, you can make
an appointment at the Health and Wellness Center to receive the shots you need.
There is a charge of $100.00 for the Meningococcal Vaccine
and a $10.00 charge for each
Tetanus (Td booster), MMR, Hepatitis B and TB skin test administered at the
PMC Health and Wellness Center.
Is there another way to show proof of immunity without getting shots?
Yes, you can have a blood
test (titer) that can determine if you are immune. If the test shows that
you are NOT immune, you will be required to have the immunizations.
I
am just starting my Hepatitis B series of shots and it takes 4-6 months to
complete. What should I do?
Have your doctor/
healthcare provider give you your first dose, and if time permits, 2nd dose
prior to coming to school. If necessary, you can get the 2nd and 3rd doses
here at the Health and Wellness Center. As long as you have had the 1st
dose, this will NOT
hold up your registration.
What if I am late sending in my Health Report Form or if I haven't completed
the pre-entrance medical requirements?
A $50.00 late fee will be
charged to your student account if the Health Report Form and documentation of
all immunization and test requirements are incomplete at the end of the first
week of classes.
