Summer Housing

Applications are now available for students who are interested in living on campus during the summer. Summer housing is available (pending application approval) in West 1 and West 2. Priority is given to students with financial or personal circumstances that create significant challenges were the student not able to live on campus during the summer. Summer housing is designated for continuing students who are enrolled for Fall 2019 semester. Students interested in applying for summer housing, must also be in good financial and disciplinary standing with the college.

Because we expect the demand for summer housing to exceed the supply, we encourage those whose plans include significant summer travel to seek other arrangements.

Application Process

Students must complete an application to be considered for summer housing. The application must be turned in directly to the Director of Residential Life no later than 4:30pm on Monday, May 6. There is limited availability and not all applications are accepted. Late applications will not be considered.

Students must fulfill at least one of the following requirements to be considered for summer housing:

  • Registered for summer session courses with a minimum of six credits
  • Working for an administrative or academic department at Pine Manor College a minimum of sixteen (16) hours per week
  • Working off campus at a business, store or establishment for a minimum of thirty (30) hours per week
  • Participating in an college sponsored directed study or exploratory internship

Documentation must be provided by the student in verifying their status for working on campus, working off campus, and participating in a college sponsored directed study or exploratory internship. Summer course registration will be confirmed through the Student Success office. 

The application will also contain the summer housing agreement in which the student applying will sign acknowledging the limited resources available during summer break in being provided housing if approved.

Applications will be reviewed by Director of Residential Life and may require the student to speak with the Director in providing additional information to give their application full consideration. Application decisions will be sent out on Friday, May 10, and accepted summer housing students must confirm their acceptance by Monday, May 13.

Information for Summer Residents

Please be aware of the following terms and conditions if you are approved to be a summer housing resident:

  • Students, regardless of their work status on- or off-campus, are expected to cover the weekly cost for housing

  • Meals are not included in the summer housing fee; however, students are welcomed pay per meal at the dining hall.

  • Residential Life staff will be on duty and on-call throughout the summer.

  • The official billing week runs from Sunday through Saturday, and minimum stay is one week with no partial billing.

  • The Office of Residence Life, along with other administrative offices, use students’ PMC email address as the means to communicate important information. Students are responsible for checking their PMC email accounts on a regular basis.

  • Failure to give a full week’s notice in writing to Residence Life when changing occupancy dates will result in a $125 fee. Students must make their dates of occupancy known at the time of registration.

  • Students are expected to cover the weekly charge even if they are not physically staying in their room, but occupying the space (i.e. out on vacation and/or visiting home). If a student misses a payment they have two business days to correct the error or they will be removed from summer housing.

Timeline

  • May 10: Students informed of application status via email

  • May 13: Accepted summer housing students must confirm their acceptance

  • May 14: Summer housing assignments sent out via email

  • May 20: Deadline to cancel summer housing contract

  • May 24: Students move into summer housing

  • August 9: Students move out of summer housing
