Chestnut Hill, MA—Pine Manor freshmen Kayla Ulery (Goose Creek, SC) put down a team-high 10 service aces to help Pine Manor defeat Mass. Maritime 3-0 (25-18, 25-9, 25-17) on Wednesday night in Chestnut Hill, MA. The Gators collected a staggering 21 service aces as a team to help improve to 10-2 on the season.
In the first set, Pine Manor struggled to separate itself from the Buccaneers until Ulery went on a serving run, collecting six of her ten aces in the first set, to help Pine Manor grab the 25- 18 opening set victory.
In the second set, Pine Manor played its best set of the night. Led once again by Ulery on the service line, the Gators pulled away and never looked back en route to a 25-9 set victory. For the Gators, senior Jen Gross (Coral Springs, FL) had a team high 8 kills while fellow Floridian Destiny Mann (Orlando, FL) had 7 kills. Mann also had a team-high 3 digs for Pine Manor. While, PMC junior Alie Johnston (Winnipeg, MB, Canada) had 22 sets assists.
In the final set of the night, Pine Manor continued to role, finishing with a 25-17 set victory. With their tenth win of the 2011 season, the Gators matched their win total from 2010.
Pine Manor will return to action on Saturday afternoon in Chestnut Hill when they play host to the Eagles of Daniel Webster College for a match at noon.
