Welcome President Thomas M. O’Reilly

The Pine Manor College community is excited to welcome Thomas M. O’Reilly as the institution’s new president.

Board Chair Rob Utzschneider said O’Reilly was chosen for his track record in leading complex organizations through significant transformational change by building collaboration, communication, and trust among stakeholders. O’Reilly is also known for his demonstrated strong leadership in challenging environments, in both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, and as an elected member of the Boston School Committee.

“Tom quickly grasped Pine Manor’s mission of serving under-resourced students by building on the College’s core strengths in preparing graduates for successful careers, with an initial focus on Healthcare Delivery and the Biomedical Sciences. He has a 30-year-record of contributing significant time and effort to providing better educational opportunities for disadvantaged young people. He has long demonstrated strong leadership skills and acumen in organizational development, operational excellence, financial soundness, and fund raising. We are very excited that he is joining Pine Manor.”

Endorsements for O’Reilly’s appointment came from near and far:

“Nelson Mandela reminded us that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." This has never been as true as it is today. But leading a higher educational institution is an increasingly difficult task. I congratulate Tom O’Reilly as he takes the leadership of PMC. A life-long Bostonian, former President of the Boston School Committee, experienced businessman, and entrepreneurial teacher, Tom understands the opportunities that lie ahead. PMC is fortunate to have someone with his skills, as well as his compassion and humility, as their next leader.”

“Tom, who has served as a trustee with Catholic Charities for eight years, is a wonderful strategic thinker who likes complicated challenges. He can do everything from build a strong, local group in support of an under-resourced program, to devising a business plan that takes an existing program to the next level. He encourages people to do and bring their very best, all of the things you want from someone in leadership.”
