I am so honored and excited to complete my degree at Pine Manor College. Although I particpated in the 2007 Commencement, I still had two courses to complete my degree. That was five years ago!!!! After a lot of procrastination I returned to Pine Manor College in the fall of 2012 to finish what I started. This time around I faced a few challenges: the premature birth of my son, Ajay, my 40-hour work week, and school after work. I struggled a bit in the beginning, but, with the help of my amazing professors and loving and devoted parents and fiancé, I was able to complete my degree on time as scheduled. I have an overwhelming sense of achievement, and I am very proud of myself for having overcome obstacles that came my way. Now I am finished! I am finally a college graduate!! I am 28 years old...living proof that you are never too old to accomplish the goals you set for yourself!! Thanks, Pine Manor, for paving the way to my suceessful future!

A native of Haiti, I am one of three siblings. I came to the United State when I was sixteen leaving my mother and two sisters behind. In the US I encountered many challenges due to language barriers and cultural differences. Adapting quickly was imperative to my success academically. Studying biology at Pine Manor College was very challenging; I wanted to be a pediatrician. But a wonderful faculty member, Pam Palmer, helped me realize that Psychology was a better fit for me. She introduced me to Dr. Tweedly to work on my organizational skills. The catastrophic 2010 earthquake in Haiti made me a strong advocate for my country. I fundraised on several events to send aid to the children of Haiti. Thanks to the help of both Pam Palmer and Dr. Tweedly, I am ready upon my graduation to open my non-profit organization, an orphanage in Haiti. I received a great education at PMC, and I had some wonderful experiences that shaped me. And now the world is waiting for me to make my mark.

I am Cape Verdean and I’ve been in the United States for seven years. In my country I did not attend school for five years, and I was nineteen years old when I attended high school in the U.S. I started college at twenty-two and graduated in three and half years. I am very proud of my accomplishments because I thought with all my challenges that a college education was not in the stars for me. I am thankful for all the support I received at Pine Manor College. I want to especially thank my advisor, Prof. Michelle Ramirez, who played a great part in my success. I also want to thank Prof. Mello-Goldner. Thank you to all the staff from the PMC's Financial Aid office, and a special thanks to Sophia Henderson for helping me to find financial solutions. To all of our current PMC students - I want to tell you to believe in yourselves, because I know that you are capable of anything you set your mind to!

I am a Brazilian native, but my heart resides in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where I have lived ever since my family and I moved here from Brazil in December 2001. There were some difficult obstacles that I had to overcome in order to thrive after arriving in America. It took a lot of optimism and all of my determination to triumph over challenges such as language barriers, entirely different cultural values, and a school system that I was not used to. I strongly believe that education is a vital tool to the overall success in one's life. With this in mind, I graduated early with a major in Social and Political Systems and a minor in Psychology. Ever since arriving at Pine Manor, I was given numerous opportunities to be innovative and become an active agent of change outside and within our institution’s community. Here, I was able to shine through my academic achievements, and I was given individual recognition too.
I am a loyal, committed ambassador of Pine Manor College. Pine Manor has given me ample chances to develop many hidden skills and assets that helped shape me into the strong young woman that I have become. For example I have designed and conducted three different research projects. These hands-on learning experiences have helped me to develop my interpersonal, critical thinking, leadership, and communication skills, and, as a result, have contributed to my personal and professional growth.
My beloved Alma Mater is the place that shaped and developed me and now offers me the opportunity to serve as an Admissions Counselor for the College. I am proud of my achievements and, consequently, am driven to ensure the future success of this institution. I want to continue being an agent for positive change at Pine Manor as we triumph through this transitional period into a more prosperous future.
