Pine Manor College- Getting a Strong Start to the Spring Semester

Kicking off 2015!

As you enter 2015 and the second half of the academic year, try to make new personal and academic resolutions for yourself. Between work, school, and other commitments, the academic year can be stressful. This year, aim to create ways to decrease your stress level and increase your productivity.

1. Go to sleep by 12:00 a.m.
Your body will thank you! A good night’s rest allows you to be more focused and productive throughout the day. Aim for eight-hour nights to keep you well rested for the next day.

2. Block out time for YOU!
Regardless of whether it’s for 30 minutes or for three hours, try to build in time to yourself or time to share with others.

3. Start your work earlier
Put deadlines in your calendar for parts of your projects and papers. By setting small goals throughout the semester, projects will become less stressful and more manageable.

4. Talk to your professors
Having a good relationship with your professors allows you to feel more comfortable asking questions or engaging in class.

5. Join clubs that make you happy
Being surrounded in an environment that is supportive and interesting is a great way to break up your day and unwind. Think about joining a new club or trying a new activity.

Ring in the New Year – and New Semester – with new habits and additions to your routine. By taking steps toward decreasing stress, you’ll be getting a good start to a successful Spring 2015!
