Pine Manor College is a private four-year liberal arts college situated on over 45 wooded acres in the Chestnut Hill section of Brookline, Massachusetts, only a few miles outside of Boston. Pine Manor College offers four core areas of study in Healthcare and Biomedical Sciences, Business and Management, Early Childhood Education, and Humanities and Social Sciences. The College also offers a master’s degree via its highly regarded MFA in Creative Writing Program.
The College also provides its students the opportunity to further their athletic pursuits in the college setting. Pine Manor College competes in Division III NCAA Athletics and offers 5 Women’s Varsity sports: basketball, cross-country, soccer, softball and volleyball, and 5 NCAA Men’s Varsity Sports: basketball, cross-country, soccer, baseball, volleyball.

PMC was founded in 1911 by Helen Temple Cooke, originally as a post-secondary division of Dana Hall School for girls in Wellesley, Massachusetts. It was chartered in 1930 as an independent junior college and authorized in 1959 to confer Associate’s degrees. The College moved to its present campus in 1965.
Pine Manor has awarded Bachelor’s degrees to women since 1977. Beginning in 2005 men and women could earn the Masters in Fine Arts in Creative Writing.
In September 2014 Pine Manor College became fully Co-Educational.
Campus and Location
PMC’s picturesque campus is situated on over 45 wooded acres in the Chestnut Hill section of Brookline, Massachusetts, five miles from downtown Boston. The College is accessible by both automobile and public transportation. The campus is located just off Route 9 and is a ten-minute walk to the Chestnut Hill Station of the D branch on the Green Line of the “T,” Boston’s trolley and subway system. The College provides regular shuttle service to and from the train station when classes are in session.
