He also served as Local Instructional Superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), before accepting his position with the Boston Public Schools in July of 2015.
A native of Taiwan who immigrated with his family to the United States at the age of six, he has held influential roles through hard work and determination. Dr. Chang holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Loyola Marymount University, an M.Ed. from the Principals Leadership Institute at UCLA, an M.Ed. from the Teachers Education Program at UCLA, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
His journey personifies the values and goals of Pine Manor College. Among Dr. Chang’s many achievements is the development of the Boston Public Schools Strategic Plan that encourages innovation, collaboration, and building relationships. The plan puts each student’s educational experience at the center, as a fundamental way to achieve educational excellence. That focus also reflects the Pine Manor College vision of ‘One Student at a Time.’
Pine Manor College is proud to recognize Dr. Chang for his contribution to quality education in Boston. The College greatly appreciates the partnership with the Boston Public Schools from which 20% of our students come. Thanks to active partnerships in the City of Boston, Pine Manor College can successfully graduate students at three times the national average for the population that we serve, and many of our graduates will be returning to their neighborhoods and giving back to their communities.
