by Eileen Cleary, MFA ’19
This day’s anniversary might find
you holding your wrinkled newborn,
watering a sapling, or carrying the coffin
of a friend you’ve loved. You will
hear remember me past these paths
from the dorms to your class.
This morning, a nest releases its waxwing
as the woods lean in to listen. You’ll leave
these pines, quiet as the books you’ve read,
having learned what matters past Pine Manor.
May your good works ring luminous,
your birdsong open windows in the sky.
