Housing Selection for Returning Students

The Housing Selection process for the 2020-2021 academic year is currently underway! Housing Selection is a process that happens every spring semester. In this process, current PMC students select their on-campus housing for the following academic year. 

As this is usually an in person process, we are currently working on the best way to administer the process for this year as we deal with the ongoing situation around COVID-19. We hope to have information for students in the near future with the specific details in how the process will work on selection day.

What are my housing options?

Double Rooms

Double rooms are designed for two people. Selection of double rooms will be done in lottery number order. Students selecting a double room must come to room selection with their roommate or a proxy form and request their room. Two students requesting a double room will choose at the lower of the two lottery numbers. Students wishing to live in a double room who do not have a roommate should refer to the instructions in the No Roommate section.

Single Rooms

Single rooms are designed for one person and are available in limited numbers. Requests for single rooms will be done in lottery number order. If there are no singles available, students will need to select a double room at the time of Room Selection and/or request to be placed on the single room waiting list. ***Please note that the cost of a single room is higher than a double room. Students must have a zero balance on their PMC account in order to select a single room and be approved by the Bursar.

Nine Month Housing Option (South 4 & South 5)

We will be offering a 9-month housing option for students in South 4 and South 5. This means that students would be allowed to stay on campus for all breaks (Thanksgiving, Winter, and Spring)

24-Hour Quiet Building (South 3 & East 3)

Residents of the 24-Hour Quiet Building accept a living standard that supports strictly enforced quiet hours 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Gender Inclusive Building (South 1)

This housing option allows students to have a roommate of any gender.

Co-ed Traditional Housing (South 2)

For this housing option one floor will be designated for men and the other floor will be designated for women.

No Roommate - Students who wants to live in a double room

Any student who wishes to live in a double room but does not have a roommate may participate in housing selection based on their lottery number. There are two possible outcomes for students without a roommate:

  1. You will be placed in a double room with another student, or
  2. You will be placed in an empty double room and either a returning student or a new transfer student will be assigned to the other bed in your room.

Housing Selection Process

The housing selection process allows current students the opportunity to request their room and roommate for the upcoming academic year. All students must qualify to participate in the housing

  • Register for classes with your Academic Advisor. You must ber egistered as a full time student.

  • Confirm your financial eligibility. You must have filed your FAFSA and confirm that your PMC account balance is below $1,000 (zero balance required for single room). Please contact Susan Gonzales in Financial Aid (sgonzales@pmc.edu) and Vincent White (vwhite@pmc.edu) in Student Accounts about your status.

  • Complete your Housing Selection Application online. Returning Student Housing Application

  • Confirm that all of your immunizations have been submitted to Alexandra Caine, Assistant Director for Admissions.

  • All students who complete the required steps for Room Selection Process will be assigned a Lottery Number. Lottery numbers will be email to students on Monday, May . The email will provide you with your lottery number and room selection participation time.

  • Participate in the Housing Selection Day! - Thursday, April 25, 2019. Make sure you come with a few housing options if your first preference is not available.

  • If you do not complete these steps by the deadlines listed you will NOT be assigned a lottery number. Students who are not assigned lottery numbers but are qualified to be entered into housing will be given the opportunity to select a room during the Open Selection block. There will be a sign-up sheet for participating in Open Selection next to the podium on the day of Housing Selection. In order to be fair to all students Open Selection will go in order based on this sign-up sheet. 

Medical Housing Accommodation Requests

Any student who feels that they need special medical housing accommodations should complete a Housing Accommodation Request Form. This form must be completed by a physician/medical practitioner and returned to Tyrone Newsome, Director of Residential Life, in Room 208 in the Student Center by Monday, April 15.

Confirm that your Housing Selection Application has been submitted. The list of submitted applications will be posted outside of Room 208, 2nd floor - Campus Center by 3pm

Students requesting Housing Accommodations must submit their Housing Accommodation Request Form to Tyrone Newsome, Director or Residential Life by this date.

Fall 2019 Registration 
All students must be registered for Fall 2019 classes in order to participate in the housing selection process.

Rising Seniors Lottery Selection - 1:00 - 2:00pm
Rising Juniors Lottery Selection - 2:00 - 3:00pm
Rising Sophomores Lottery Selection - 3:00 - 4:00pm
Open Selection for those without Lottery Numbers 4:00 - 5:00pm


You must agree to and sign the Pine Manor College Housing License and Meal Plan Agreement on the day of Housing Selection.
