Dear Gator students and families,
It is with a heavy heart that I must share with you that Pine Manor College will need to close its doors to our undergraduate degree-granting programs at the end of this semester. Unfortunately, the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic on our institution has been too great.
We know the impact of this news on you is vast. We know that Pine Manor College has become your home and you have built relationships here that will last a lifetime. We know that Pine Manor College has opened doors and opportunities for you and your families in ways many of you may never have imagined. And in the coming weeks, we hope to continue to open doors for you as we help you make the transition to another college where you will have the opportunity to earn your degree.
To make the transition from Pine Manor College to your next institution smooth and successful, we have assigned faculty/staff teams to each of you to help in your transition. A point person from the team you are assigned to – a faculty advisor, a student success coach, and/or an athletic coach (if you are an athlete) – will reach out to you by Monday, May 18, 2020.
In your conversations with them, you will learn about the partnerships we have entered into with other colleges, such as Bridgewater State University, Elms College, Fisher College, Framingham State University, University of Massachusetts – Boston, and University of Texas – El Paso, and the options available to you at those institutions. Your team contacts/point person will keep you posted as we develop more partnerships with other colleges. Your team will work with you to determine which institution is the best fit for you academically, geographically, and financially and will assist you with getting answers to any questions that you may have.
For students who are interested in transferring to schools that we do not have partnerships with – we will help you complete your transfer application, so you can attend this fall if you are accepted. We know that typical transfer admissions applications were due earlier in the semester; however, given the pandemic, many institutions have changed their deadlines and we are hopeful that most will work with us and with you. We are confident that every Pine Manor student who is willing to work hard will find a good college to attend this fall semester. We will work with you and support you in every way we can.
For additional information on your transition process and the College, please visit this FAQ page. We will keep the Pine Manor web site updated with new information. I urge you to check in regularly during the next few weeks.
I am sorry that we cannot move forward together as we had all hoped and planned. The saying goes, “home is where the heart is.” Home, for many of us, is Pine Manor College. Pine Manor College will continue to have a special place in our hearts as we carry forth the values of inclusion, community, and kindness. You should be very proud of your accomplishments at Pine Manor College. It has been an honor for us to serve you, and although change is difficult, I have full confidence that you will find a new academic home at another college or university. Keep your eyes on the prize, which is earning a college credential that you can use to pursue the career of your dreams. Please know that we will support you throughout this transition.
With sincerity and unity,
