For the second-straight month, junior Therline Dumeran (Cambridge, MA/Cambridge Rindge & Latin) has been named Pine Manor’s Student-Athlete of the Month.
Dumeran returned from semester break in January and picked continued an impressive season. Her play over the last month helped Pine Manor to secure two important Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victories over Johnson & Wales and Albertus Magnus.
Dumeran opened up the second half of the season by scoring a game-high 24 points in a close loss to Wheelock. The junior forward was just two rebounds shy of her second triple-double of the season as she also had 12 steals and 8 boards in the contest.
Later the next week, Dumeran helped guide Pine Manor to its first conference victory of the season, a 74-65 win over Johnson & Wales University on Saturday, January 15. Dumeran again had a team-high 24 points to go along with the staggering total of 21 rebounds, 5 blocks and 3 steals for the Gators. A few days later, Dumeran recorded yet another double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down 17 rebounds in a Pine Manor loss at Simmons College.
Following the loss against Simmons, Dumeran helped the Gators bounce back by producing one of her most impressive efforts of the year in a 69-67 PMC victory at Albertus Magnus. The Gators led throughout in a game where Dumeran scored 25 points, and collected 22 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks and 6 steals.
In her final two games of the month, Dumeran first recorded 16 points and 10 rebounds as Pine Manor almost knocked-off Emerson on January 27, before she had 8 points 7 rebounds, 3 blocks, and a pair of assists in a loss at Norwich on January 29.
At the end of January, Dumeran ranked second in the GNAC in both scoring and rebounding— averaging a double-double at 15.9 points per game and 13.3 rebounds per game. Establishing herself as a threat on both ends of the court, Dumeran is also the conference leader in steals with 64 (averaging 4.3 per game) and blocked shots with 48 (averaging 3.2 per game).
