CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Pine Manor freshman forward Sybil Lynch (Hoboken, NJ/Hudson County Schools of Technology) has been named the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, as announced by the GSAC on September 19, 2012.
Lynch recorded a natural hat-trick in the first half of Pine Manor’s 3-1 road victory over Daniel Webster on Thursday to lead the Gators to their first victory of the season and a 1-1 record on the week. Lynch’s three goals scored were the first of her collegiate career and lifted the freshman to her first Player of the Week nod.
Lynch, who has scored four goals in six games to open the 2012 season, is also the first Pine Manor student-athlete to be named GSAC Player of the Week since the Gators joined the Conference in August 2012.
The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning. The complete press release can be found by clicking here.
