Meet the Staff - Pine Manor Preschool in Brookline, MA

Davida Bloom, Child Study Center Director
Davida Bloom has been an educator of young children in the classroom for over 25 years. Most recently I have served as the Early Education Director at the YMCA Children’s Center-West Roxbury. I attended Mount Ida College where I earned my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have vast knowledge of working with young children as I have been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for many years in various child care settings. I feel that parents are an important part of our team in fostering learning with the children. I look forward to your parent involvement during the school year. During my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

Derline Févrius, Lead Teacher 2.9 and 3.5 year old class
Derline Févrius is originally from Haïti. She has been living in Boston for 12 years. She completed her Associate Degree from Roxbury Community College. She has 10 years of experience in Early Childhood Education and most recent experience was at the Dimock Community Center. Derline started working at Pine Manor in the summer camp program and is one of the teachers in the BusyBees classroom. She loves singing, driving and traveling. Derline is happy to be here at Pine Manor College Child Study Center.

Janine Furey, Lead teacher 3.6 and 4 year old class
Janine has been working with young children for the past thirteen years at a small private school in Milton, MA. She has earned an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Quincy College. “I really enjoy creating a love for learning through discovery, exploration, and play.” Outside of school Janine enjoys spending time with family and loves going to the beach.

Gertrude Grandchamps, Lead Teacher 4 and 5 year old class
 Gertrude (Trudy) is a wife, a mom, and has been teaching at the Child Study Center since 1996. She is a graduate of Pine Manor College earning a BA in Psychology with a focus in Early Childhood Education. Trudy describes herself as a good hearted person who grew up on a farm, in Port Salut, Haiti with her parents and sixteen siblings. She is the fifteenth child and likes spending time with family. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with friends and dancing Zumba in the Boston area.

Margaret Miller-Carlin, Lead Teacher Extended Day Program
Margaret (Maggie) has been leading the full day program at the Child Study Center since 2014. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Lesley University and completed her undergraduate work at Pine Manor College. Maggie also studied ballet with The Boston Conservatory, 2007- 2009. Her love of ballet is now a part of the curriculum at the Child Study Center, introducing choreography, music, and professional pieces to the children. Our students love dancing with Maggie and look forward to her very specialized classes each week. Maggie is married and loves her dog, a Basenji named Angel.

Shaneka Monroe, Lead Teacher 2.9 and 3.5 year old class
Shaneka started interning at Child Study Center in 2017 while earning her Bachelors Degree. She earned her B.A in Early childhood Education, Health, and Leadership with a minor in Communications from Pine Manor College in 2018. Before coming back to work at Pine Manor College, Shaneka worked for the Jewish Community Center in Brighton where she gained more experience teaching and interacting with parents. Shaneka describes herself as being a very laid back but out going person. Shaneka is excited to be back and part of the PMC family.

Debbie Shaw, Lead Teacher 4 and 5 year old class
Debbie started working at the Child Study Center in 2008. She earned her B.A. in Early childhood Education, Health, and Leadership from Pine Manor College. Before coming to the Child Study Center she worked as a Lead Teacher for 15 years preschool aged children and children with special needs. Debbie is a proud owner of three dogs and she’s an avid N.E. Patriots fan.
