MLK-Day of Service
On January 20, 2020, students, faculty, and staff from Pine Manor College joined our partner, Freedom House, to mark MLK Jr., Day of Service. The day started with Spoken Word presentation followed by a panel of guest speakers. The guests answered questions about their experiences and their insights on a host of topics surrounding the four central themes of the day: education, safety and violence, mental health, and immigration. After lunch, participants broke into smaller groups to discuss one of the four themes of the day.
The conversations we had at Freedom House echoed the values that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stood for, and connected to our restorative practices on campus. We continue to foster partnerships that promote social and racial equity, and use a trauma-informed lens to work with each other.
