Are you passionate about Pine Manor College and want to make a greater impact on the campus community? Career Development Assistants, First Year Success Mentors, Orientation Leaders, and Resident Assistants all play an important role in assisting students with their transition and retention to Pine Manor College by providing ongoing mentoring and support. These roles provide valuable leadership experience and skills, which can be applied in diverse fields and future employment opportunities. In addition, each of these positions provides compensation.

PMCA Positions

Orientation Leaders:  Orientation Leaders (OL’s) assist incoming freshmen, transfer students, and their families in their transition to the Pine Manor College. OL’s play a vital role in the New Student Orientation program. They work closely with new students and their families on a wide variety of topics including academics, student involvement, housing options, and more.

First-Year Success Mentors: The First Year Success Mentor (FYSM) collaborates with the Faculty and Staff of Pine Manor College to support the success of First Year students and assist in their integration into the Pine Manor College community.

Resident Assistants: The Resident Assistant (RA) is a full-time sophomore, junior or senior who lives in one of the residence halls and serves as a peer advisor/counselor, resource and referral person, role model, advocate, authority figure, programmer, administrative assistant and group leader of 25-30 residents of that residence hall.

Career Development Assistants: The Career Development Assistant (CDA) role is to provide and coordinate peer to peer career development services to students. The CDA works collaboratively with the Director of Career Development, students and community partners to engage students in professional growth opportunities, to remain current with trends, and emerging careers in the workforce.

Requirements & Qualifications

Student leaders are expected to possess a specific body of knowledge about the College acquired through training and experience. Applicants must be sincerely interested and skillful in partnering with the College community. Student leadership selection is both a unique honor and a rewarding opportunity for personal and professional growth.

PMCA Requirements

  • Be a full-time Pine Manor College student
  • Be in good academic, financial and disciplinary standing
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA

Qualifications

  • Possess a positive attitude, high energy level, knowledge of and enthusiasm for Pine Manor College
  • Willingness to engage in self-reflection and learning about social justice
  • Have the ability to work well with a diverse group of people
  • Exhibit a professional attitude and positive work ethic
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and group settings
  • Be able to work well within a team and take initiative when necessary
  • Have the ability to problem solve and manage conflict
  • Proven experience working cooperatively as part of a team

Online Application & Recommendation Form

The online application contains multiple pages. The first few pages allow you to review the PMCA position available before you start the actual application. Make sure you complete all information until you get to the certification and agreement page, where you can submit the application.

As part of the application process, we require students to have a recommendation form to be filled out on their behalf. The form must be submitted by a faculty or staff member at Pine Manor College. Please make sure to give your faculty or staff member you want as a reference for you enough advance notice so they can have time to complete the form before the deadline.
