Newton, MA - Cory Kinsella's team played over 104 consecutive minutes of shutout soccer to play GNAC rival Lasell to a 1-1 tie on Tuesday.
After a Meredith Hessler score put the Lasers in front at 5:58, the Gators tied the contest 18 minutes in, when Alicia Grenier (Swansea, MA/Joseph Case), right, came from the left on the goal and put a shot into the top right of the net on a feed from fellow freshman Beth Deegan (Philadelphia, PA/Little Flower Catholic). Grenier's goal was her team-high eighth of the season and was the only shot Pine Manor put on goal in the first half.
Outshot 9-50 in all, the Gators worked a tie in large part to the work of Kayla Nielsen (Saco, ME/Thornton Academy) in net. The freshman tallied ten saves in the first half and finished with twenty-two over her 110 minutes, including five saves after the end of regulation.
The tie is Pine Manor's second this season and moves Kinsella's club to 3-4-2 ont eh season and 1-4-1 in GNAC play. The Gators remain in conference, traveling to Albertus Magnus for a 1pm start Saturday
