F. Josephine Arrowood-Ross brings a wealth of hard-won life experiences to her writing: fiber artist, auto mechanic trainee, daycare provider, construction worker, waitress, house cleaner, soccer referee, public radio DJ, and Americorps worker. For the past 10 years, she has been a feature writer for the Glen Arbor Sun. She earned a BA in History, Social, and Cultural Studies from Vermont College in 2009. She writes from Leelanau County, Michigan, where she lives with her family.

Lisa Allen is a freelance writer and editor, a recovering paralegal, and proud mother of three extraordinarily ordinary kids. Her piece “Three Little Letters” (about her father) was published in the 2015 anthology Listen to Your Mother: What She Said Then, What We’re Saying Now. She is currently turning a series of thank you notes penned to men she dated after divorce—and turning forty—into something more interesting than just a stack of thank you notes.
