Important Financial Success Matters – Spring 2022

Massachusetts No Interest Loan Program

If you received a No Interest Loan (NIL) while you attended PMC, you must complete an Exit Interview at https://www.heartlandecsi.com/en prior to April 29, 2022.  Notification from the Financial Aid Office will be sent by U.S.P.S. mail and e-mail to notify you if you are required to complete this process.

Federal Direct Loan Program

If you received Federal Direct Student Loans you must complete Exit Counseling at https://studentaid.gov/exit-counseling/ prior to April 29, 2022. The purpose of Exit Counseling is to ensure you understand your student loan obligations and are prepared for repayment.  You’ll learn about what your federal student loan payments will look like after graduation and provide you with a repayment strategy that best suits your plans and goals.

My college closed.  What happens now?

When colleges close while you are enrolled or soon after you withdraw, you may be eligible for discharge of your federal student loans. Loan discharge is the removal of your obligation to repay your federal loan under certain circumstances.

There are specific criteria and eligibility requirements to qualify for a closed college loan discharge.  You must apply to the U.S. Department of Education to get a discharge.  For more information on the criteria and eligibility please visit: https://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/closed-school.

We can help.  Please reach out to Susan Gonzales at sgonzales@pmc.edu or Debbie Gravel at dgravel@pmc.edu to discuss all the above.  They will provide all the information that they can.  They want you to have a successful outcome.
