[Chestnut Hill, MA, November 2011] The Solstice MFA Program announces its Winter Reading Series, taking place December 30, 2011 through January 7, 2012 in the Founder’s Room of Pine Manor College, located at 400 Heath Street in Chestnut Hill. Author’s books will be available for sale; a cash-bar reception will follow the reading on Thursday, January 5. *Readings are at 7:30 p.m. unless otherwise indicated. Plenty of free parking!

Friday, December 30 at 7:30 p.m.: Venise Berry (author of four novels, including the forthcoming Pockets of Sanity); Mark Turcotte (author of four poetry collections, including The Feathered Heart); & David Yoo (author of two young adult novels, a middle grade novel, and the forthcoming essay collection The Choke Artist).

Sunday, January 1 at 7:30 p.m.: MFA Director Meg Kearney (author of two poetry collections, two novels-in-verse for teens, and a picture book); Anne-Marie Oomen (poet and author of three essay collections, including An American Map: Essays); & special guest M.L. Liebler (author of thirteen books, including the award-winning Written In Rain: New & Selected Poems 1985-2000).

Tuesday, January 3 at 7:30 p.m.: Amy Hoffman (author of three memoirs, including the forthcoming Lies About My Family); special guest Ann Angel (author of the young adult biography, Janis Joplin Rise Up Singing); & Randall Kenan (author of several books of fiction and nonfiction, including Let the Dead Bury Their Dead and The Fire This Time).

Wednesday, January 4 at 7:30 p.m.: Steven Huff (author of two poetry collections and the short fiction collection A Pig in Paris); special guest Nina Crews (author of seven books for children, including the recent Below); & writer-in-residence Helen Elaine Lee (author of four novels, including The Serpent’s Gift and Water Marked).

Thursday, January 5 at 7:45 p.m.: MFA Assistant Director Tanya Whiton (published in Crazyhorse and Northwest Review); Dzvinia Orlowsky (author of five poetry collections, including the forthcoming Silvertone); & special guest André Dubus III (author of the New York Times bestsellers House of Sand and Fog, The Garden of Last Days, and Townie: A Memoir).

Friday, January 6 at 7:45 p.m.: Laura Williams McCaffrey (author of Alia Waking and Water Shaper); Sandra Scofield (National Book Award Finalist for Beyond Deserving; author of seven novels, a memoir, and a craft book); & special guest Roland Merullo (author of ten novels, including Fidel’s Last Days and The Talk Funny Girl).
