Vaughan Finishes With Top Time, Gators Fall to Mount Ida in Dual Meet

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Pine Manor College freshman Maria Vaughan (Okinawa, Japan) finished with the top overall time of 24:51, but Mount Ida College women’s cross country still ran to a narrow 25-30 victory over the Gators on Thursday afternoon at Pine Manor College.

Vaughan finished 11 seconds ahead of Mount Ida junior Emily Bernotas (Sunderland, MA), who completed the two-loop course around campus in 25:02 to help lead the Mustangs to the overall team victory. Mount Ida junior Anna Hogle (New Lebanaon, NY) finished fourth overall with a time of 26:07, while Samantha Laferriere finished fifth at 28:27 and senior Kristen Guerrero (Fairfield, CT) finished sixth with a time of 28:41. Kaitlyn Mulenforth rounded out the top five for the Mustangs with a time of 29:11.

For Pine Manor, Alexis Bushika (Adams, MA) finished third with a time of 26:06, while Victoria Astudillo (Brighton, MA) was the next highest finisher for the Gators with a time of 28:47.

Today’s dual meet was the final race of 2013 season for the Gators. However, Mount Ida will be back in action next Friday when they head to the Emmanuel Invitational at Franklin Park in Boston, MA.
